Ingredients
- Whole mung bean (Moong dal) - 1 cup
- Kidney beans (rajma) - 1/2 cup (soaked in water for 3-3 1/2 hours)
- Milk - 1 cup
- Curd - 1/2 cup
For Tadka :
- Butter or Ghee - 4 tbsp
- Ginger-garlic paste - 1/2 tsp
- Green cardamom - 2
- Black cardamom - 1
- Onion - 2 (finely chopped)
- Red chillies - 7
- Red chilli powder - 1 tsp
- Garam masala - 1/2 tsp
- Tomato - 2 (finely chopped)
- Salt - 1/2 tsp
- Coriander leaves - 2 tbsp
How to Cook
Take out the pressure cooker, put in that moong dal and soaked rajma along with 2 cups of water. Cook it till 2 whistle blows.
Then take out a frying pan, empty the boiled dal and mix 1 cup milk, 1/2 cup curd, stir it well for the next 5 minutes in low flame.
To prepare tadka, take another fry pan and put 4 tbsp butter or ghee, upon warming put 1/2 tsp ginger- garlic paste, green cardamom, black cardamom, finely chopped onion, red chillies, red chilli powder, 1/2 tsp garam masala, finely chopped tomato, salt & coriander leaves. Put all the ingredients one by one and mix properly.
Then mix the dal in the tadka slowly & stir it parallely. Allow it boil for 2-3 minutes then turn off the flame.
Dal Akbari is now ready to be served.
